This study conducted an empirical research of 580 caretakers working in nursing homes in Daegu city to investigate the effect of caretakers¡¯ work stress on the quality of service provided by them. Work stress appeared highly amongst those who are not physically well themselves, who work in double shift and who work to resolve financial difficulties. Working condition improvements are required, such as proper treatment of caretakers and employing them on permanent positions basis to improve such situation. To conclude, work stress exerted influence on the quality of the care service provided. Further study is needed to devise policies that support caretakers and improve their work environment which will allow them to provide higher quality service, as researchers propose different results. Furthermore, the foundations of service quality improvement can be established by improving the relationship between the caretakers and other caretakers, co-workers in the facility and their clients into a more humane and positive relationship.
